IF there is life on another planet we will find it within 20 years, an alien hunter has predicted.
Developments in computer processing and radio telescope technology mean we will soon be able to detect alien transmissions.  Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence Institute senior astronomer Seth Shostak told New Scientist there are 10,000 to a million transmitters that could indicate life in the galaxy. To find them will involve observing radio emissions from most of the galaxy's 100 billion stars.

Within 20 years, emissions from enough stars will have been observed to have found the first alien civilisation.
